im after a set of lowering blocks to drop the rear of my volvo 340 by about 40mm, any ideas where i can get some from?

i used mk2 escort items just had to slightly file the locaters to get them to fit. ebay always have them if not try burtons the will defo have em

And remember if you use escort ones they normally come with U-bolts which are no good to us, you'll need to buy some the right length (and tensile strength).

Not really, it's not a car you can easily get tuning parts for. Which is why people adapt escort blocks, like these:

Blocks are almost a straight fit, bolts are no good and you'll need your own.

there is a company which i found helpful with upgrades etc there called F1moto google them there not bad on prices and very helpfull

also if those blocks are made for escorts where can i get the bolts from so that they will fit the 340?

Try screwfix or a local hardware shop. You need 4x 4" and 4x 4.25" iirc. Make sure the heads of the bolts are marked 8.8 or higher, this is very important if you want your axle to stay attached to the springs. You'll most likely need to buy more than 4 of each size though, as not many places sell single bolts. This is why Dai's kits actually work out quite good value. IMO, it's not worth the hassle to save a fiver, unless you have lots of bolts in bulk already.

im struggling john to see why you need to sets of bolts?

at 2" drop 130mm M10's fit and you only need 8 alltogether. ebay has bargin packs of 10 for 10£ posted normally.

Because buying single bolts works out expensive. I obtained some free M10 allen heads from a friend in engineering, but lets do the maths:

Rallydesign blocks, £14 PLUS VAT, plus postage (unknown amount as their site is annoying).

That's £29.80, probably closer to £33-35 all in.
So unless you find some cheap 2nd hand blocks and bargain chinese snap-tastic bolts, Dai's kit at £25 looks pretty good value, and he's normally got them in stock.
