2.0 16v engine help needed
ok i have started to sort out the engine ready to put in the car. its a 2.0l 16v f7r from a megane coupe 1997. i know i need to swap the sumps over thats not a problem, i do have a few questions though so any help will be much appreciated.
first one how have people done the clutches as i know the bellhousing doesnt fit into the 2.0l clutch. so what have people done here?
secondly where does the engine mounting on the right hand side of the engine (if you're looking from the front to the back) i know it goes behind the alternator somewhere but i cant find anywhere to bolt it in?
and thirdly the power steering pump that is on it obviously i dont need. so if i take it off what do i do about the alternator belt as it misses a cog then or what belt can i use? any help will be much appreciated.
many thanks

Fortunatly is all cheap and easy!
for the clutch you can use the 1.7 flywheel and complete clutch assembly, or a clio/R19 flywheel (much lighter) with the clutch cover to match and use a volvo 1.7 clutch plate between the two,
Not sure if the megane Flywheel will have different teath on it for the Crank Sensor due to a different ignition system.
the intake side engine mount will go on the three holes underneat the Alternator, (assuming your using the 1.7 alternator bracketry)
What are you planning on doing for the wiring? if your going to be running an aftermarket ECU using the coilpack you may aswell use the megane flywheel.

Basically you need to strip all th megane bits from teh block, alternator power steering etc, then the mount bolts on. The flywheel on the megane is same diameter but runs a bigger clutch all be it 10mm or so.
You need to run a 1.7 clutch.

ok thanks. i have all the ecu and so forth for the megane. so am planning on using that. so what u reckon? can i just use the plate or do i have to either get some new holes drilled in for the 1.7 complete clutch or just swap the whole flywheel. if so do i need to use the 1.7 starter if i swap flywheel or will the megane one work fine?

Which holes are you talking about dont align? I have both flywheels here and as far as i'm aware the 1.7 clutch fits both.

when i had a look the megane clutch is bigger than the volvo one so if u try to bolt the volvo one on the megane flywheel the holes wont align for it to bolt on or was it just me? sorry

Re: 2.0 16v engine help needed
ok little update mountings and all that are sorted taken the alternator and p/s pump off fitted the volvo bracketry and the megane alternator onto it but the volvo alternator belt is too long, has anyone else had this problem if so what belt have they used instead? other than that all i need to do is sort the clutches had a proper look today the volvo clutch wont fit the megane flywheel so, if i use the volvo flywheel does anyone happen to know if the teeth on it are the same and the trigger pattern? otherwise i can use that and the megane starter motor and bingo engine goes in? thoughts?
Re: 2.0 16v engine help needed
as for the alternator belt, Taken from my build thread: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =13&t=6323 (lots of parts in there)
not shure about the teeth on the flywheels, i think they may be different
QH Part Number QBR6825 as fitted to the Renault Spider and some random toyota.

Re: 2.0 16v engine help needed
I know the 1.7 pressure plate will not fit on the 2ltr 8 valve flywheel so perhaps the same applies here?
