Well, did you get it? Certainly went cheaply, I'm amazed!
Here we go an update as promised!

Checked all the carb linkages, check the oil, checked the water,(yes after 14 yrs it still had water in it - no rotten hoses!! :-))

The in-line fuel filter was dry. I added fuel to the tank.

OK - the moment of truth... put the battery on the owd gal !!!

We have lights on the dash... sounds of life.. turn the key and with a long crank she fired a treat then coughed a bit... and stopped. Got the WD40 out. Sprayed the old rocket everywhere that moves under the bonnet. Smells a treat. Right, let's have another go... turn the key... signs of life... lights on the dash...turn to fire her up... and...yes...YES... she's GOING!! Oh!...bit of a bang from the exhaust...yes! she's firing on all four!...little rev or two...sounds great!! Yep Houston... we are GO GO GO!!!

YES THIS LITTLE BEAUTY IS A RUNNER!! Ticking over nicely now, we are going to try to put her into reverse ( best first as there is a fence right in front of her!!) Press that switch on the top of the shift... BEEP BEEP BEEP.. OOH.. UH OH.. stalled. Not having it. Tried again, ever so gently...No. Stalled again. Come on you little BEEEUTY... gently tried again... IT'S IN!!!...few more revs... few more!!!... just a few more beans.... OH!!! HERE WE GO!... GENTLY ROLLING BACKWARDS!!! The few 1970's Knave, Men Only, Penthouse and Fiesta that were in the footwell are nowhere as near as good as this moment!! Here we go again - try for forwards... in she goes... OH!!! AND WE ARE ROLLING FORWARDS!!

WE ARE A RUNNER!!! WE GO INTO R!!! WE GO INTO D!!!

The brakes, I can feel are binding, but everthing else seems to work, lights, wipers heater fan

Volvos rock!!!!!!!
They do indeed :-)

Yeah, very cheap Tom.
Think the tin worm devestation was widespread though.

Anyone from V3M take it? *cough-foggy!*

Yes it looked pretty rotten, note the state of the front doors where the rust is creeping out from under the window, very typical. Still, lots of Mk1-specific parts to be had from it, and Mk1 breakers don't turn up that often ...

I hope "Karen" won't banger-race it (see the last question) :-(

No I did not win I had to stop bidding as I am self employed and work has dried up at the minute. It was rusty but it would have had some MK1 bits on I am a bit gutted :( but not cash = no new play things, will just put what money i have into the black beauty and the daf 55 for now.
