hello, i would like to know where is the rev limit in a standar b200e of 360glt year 89, and when we modificate it where is the limit of the standar pistons crancshaft, con rods, bearings??
the same question for a b230 inyeccion (could be a b230fd?)
which one better? for the standar gearbox?
i want to run twin webbers 40 for the b200 or 45 bor the b230 i found a very cheap b230 them i can choose.
the project is made a engine from the bottom end to the exhaust but running standar internals, it will be a "daily driver"
where is the limit in hp for the gearbox?
any other thing that i need to know is well received
thanks!
sorry for my english
b200e and b230 limits?
Re: b200e and b230 limits?
Very much depends on which Renix ignition module you have, neither of my GLT's had rev limiters (before 6500rpm anyway - I chickened out..) but other B200E rev limiters tend to kick in around 6250rpm.

Re: b200e and b230 limits?
If the B230 engine is from a 240/740 then I would use the distributor and ignition modual from that. Then fit a rotor arm of a pre 1980 240 to remove the rev limit. They will normaly rev to about 7500 before they stop - does not cause anyproblems they just dont seem to rev higher than that.

Re: b200e and b230 limits?
Stock B200 rods (9mm rods) will handle about ~250hp with the turbo in street use. With naturally aspirated engine rods will probably go earlier because high revs kill the weaker 9mm rods. Stock crank will handle whatever you can take out. If I remember correctly TTR (Team Turbo Racing) guys in sweden broke the stock redblock crank at somewhere near 1000hp so it's not an issue.
1985-1987 B200 has smaller main bearings (55mm) and from 8/1987 onwards bearings are larger size (63mm) but that's not an issue in street use.
Same thing with the B230-block but the B230 block has stronger and thicker (13mm) rods in later engines. Stronger con rods came around 89/90 so anything above 90 _should_ have the stronger con rods. Those stronger rods have been used in ~500hp turbo engines so those won't break quite easily when the engine is in good tune.
B200-series always has the weaker rods.
Stock pistons (well actually the piston rings) don't like to be reved much above 7000rpm too often.
