not that type :P

leading on from my other post, while trying to a) stop and b) avoid a kamakazi lorry driver, i left a bit fat number 11 on the road in my wake. thing is, i'm pretty sure the wheels werent locked up - the steering still had feel, and i was still in control of the car (ie i was steering it exactly where i wanted to go).

am i wrong then, in thinking that skid marks mean the wheels are locked? the car definatly doenst have abs.

It is possible to lay rubber down without locking up - think about how a burnout works. Having said that, you probably were locked - it's just not as uncontrolable as everyone makes out. At the most recent Tbricks meet I had to do a mondo-stop (long and amusing story!), and the car danced all over the road, but i could still steer. I'd love to retro-fit ABS from a 440, but it's one of those jobs that just never gets done...

cheers
