Unless you are aware what it is, I believe it is time to find out, 5.5.2009 there will be voting in EU where they will decide from set of new directives that allow ISP to control what pages you are allowed to go, what information you are allowed to see and also some very vague and unclear information has been given that under crisis situation censorship and total control are leaked to public. So for example if country is involved into war against terrorism they could filter what you can see and hear from it.

They are trying to make internet to be just like TV where are all restrictions and control as there are in TV.

Will you allow this or will you try to influence your EU politicians to make them vote against this?

Act now, 5.5 is already too late.

edit: Added few linkys.

Maybe they'll use the software China uses ;)

I think it's inevitable that to some extent the internet will become regulated. It's a bit like the wild west. At first lots of new people migrated to the new frontier, found new things, set up business and all sorts. There's also a real problem with crime, identity theft, spam piracy etc, so it's certain that the authorities are going to try to lay the law down and make it a safer place.

Obviously being international it'll be difficult, and there's strong opposition from privacy groups.

I would say Internet is much safer than queue to local fast food place 1pm at Friday evening, especially if you try to sneak ahead of someone in queue

My view to this is that there should not be any governing factor in internet, everyone is as safe as they will try to be, if person is idiot he should get what idiots will get, I'm very much against such nannying.

But then again I think that from everything that person likes to have he should pay and if person don't like to have something he should not pay from it, so if person likes to have nannying internet he should get software to do the job and such software is already available, net nanny and all those.
