Hi,
I need a new wing for my 340 DL. It's an offside (that's the driver's side, right?) one I'm needing and I would prefer it with very little or no rust if possible. If you've one kicking about or know where there is one then if you'd reply to this post or email me at
tomdifiori@hotmail.com I'd really appreciate it
Thanks all.
PS: If nobody has one in red, I'd consider taking any colour and respraying it. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

Theres an E reg 340 breaking on ebay.. may or may not be red.. worth a try?

Thanks a lot for your reply Steve!
Would this be the one you're referring to?

Nah.. there has been/is a 340 selling spares from it on ebay somewhere, can't find the link right now - not sure even if its red, but thought it might be worth a try...

try scrapyards - red was a very popular late colour, so picking up parts should be easy. respraying a panel is expensive or difficult, depending on if you pay for someone else to do it or not

I have an excellent one in 231 red, but can't remember which side it's for - I got it for my restoring my red GLT, but ended up selling it. Will look in the shed & see !!
Where are you in Yorks ?
John.

Check the paintcode Tom

I dunno if the GLT red is the same as the 340 reds
EDIT: Just seen a red wing in the scrapyard again - but its definitely no good!

Different red if thats the late 340 you're talking about Foggy?

I think it's the same colour as Toms....I think one of the 360 reds is a bit lighter than the late 340 red. The paint code would settle it...
cheers

Great, mate? Before you pull it, though, what's the rust situation like? Is the paint faded at all?
Cheers!!

Think it'd be worth checking paintcodes. Toms car being late '88 I think is a different red (lighter slightly orangey) to the later red (deeper cherry red and fades less), as Tom's 340 has chrome around the windows.
I think it may have been when they changed the window and gutter trim to black, was when they changed the red colours. But I'm not by any means sure.. anyone else got any ideas?

Late red.

340s can use
155 Signal red
186 Dark red metallic
198 Wine red
217 Red
221 Red metallic
231 Bright red
not sure what red metallic looks like??

Let us know your paint code Tom - it's on the silver plate between the bonnet hinges. In theory, it must be one of the numbers Hugh quoted. I think my silver is '306' from memory.
cheers
