Petrol prices

Post by jtbo »

So how is it in Queen's island?

Here it is utterly crap, prices have shooted up recently to very insane levels, this is for just one day refill that took me only part of trip:

It is not that long that I did took petrol for 20FIM and managed to drive with that quite long time, now they probably would not sell me petrol for such low amount of cash

Damn, my first car did cost 2000FIM now I refill with 416FIM and they say prices are not sooted up with euro, my income is almost same as back then

Nope, that is Petrol 99 octane, but it really was 98 octane, which translates to Premium in your country. Here Bensiini = Petrol, but Petrooli = white spirit or something like that, yes our language is pretty much fucked up, it is as good as rest of our system

They plan to ban all old cars from our roads now and strongly guide (= heavy extra taxation to private homes) people to move into box houses, so probably they ban 340's and 360's from our roads before I get that fixed...
Of course in name of fighting against climate change...

We already pay tax from owning a private home, they plan now to increase that quite lot from what I have heard.

I'm currently communicating with many of our political parties, EU and IPCC, giving them real climate data that proofs that even if we would stop emitting CO2 climate would still change and asking their view from that. but I'm just tiny individual, mostly they ignore me.

Petrol prices are probably also being taxed quite heavily in future here, but it is really stupid as only thing those things will do is drag our economy down.

There was some information that all that would happen in next two years. Oh yes, Green party was winner of our EU election, so you can imagine how EU and our future will be, probably you will get some new green taxes because of our green people is in EU meps now

War in 5 years perhaps?

Surprisingly our gun laws are being made extremely restrictive at very same time, there was mention of cops to have right to make home inspections to gun owners house each year at random times... Luckily that did not go trough, but rest of restrictions did.

It is difficult to live in socialistic country when you believe in freedom and such.

But this is getting tad far from petrol prices, nevertheless I believe all these are connected, somehow, maybe, pretty sure of it

Diesel is cheap, wife's car runs on it and it's 0.947 eur/liter (when I last filled up in the weekend). There's a tax break, the fuel is taxed less but then we have to pay extra yearly tax on the car just because it uses diesel. For the wife's car it's about 500 eur/year extra, but it still pays off in the end because the car is driven maybe 40000 km per year.

The nearest refinery is just 15 km away, so the gasoline prices are a bit lower in this corner of Finland: the closest station to me has 95E for 1.296 eur/l and 98E is 1.328 eur.

Last week I had a holiday in Crete. Didn't see any Volvo 300 series there, only a few Volvos in total anyway - most popular cars seemed to be Korean. I, too, drove a horrible P.O.S. Hyundai Acc(id)ent rental car for the week. Fit rather well in the narrow streets though, but I would have had so much more fun on the mountain roads in a RWD vario 340... But the 95E there ranged from 1.06 to 1.14 or so.

Thats still cheap. That's like 1,15 in euros...regular euro 95 petrol costs about 1,45 euro at the moment...98, don't know, I thought I saw 1.55 along the highway...

Happily I still drive LPG -> 0.41 euro when you look good enough, and 0.56 along the highway...
