Just been sent some photos of what looks like a very nice condition 1.4 automatic. There's an advert on the Owner's Club forum, but I thought I'd put some details up here for anyone who's interested. Based in Poole, Dorset.

This car is totally mint. Rust in a few places on the sills and carb lid but nothing some primer can't fix! Interior is fine and the vario gearbox is a pleasure to drive. Surprisingly nippy for a 1.4 auto! Never driven an auto before but it really was great. The guy wants £450 for it because "it is solid". I don't disagree with him but 450 is too much out of my range. Somebody please save this car from the crusher. Needs some minor work to the left side trims and a good clean (covered in mold). It's been sitting 3 months but it's not siezed up or anything. Somebody must have some space in their heart (and driveway) for this?

I can give you his number if you want it and I'd be willing to buy it for anyone if they forward me the moneys. I can park it on my street until you want to make the journey down. Just let me know.

Oh and after sitting 3 months it started first time after just 3 rotations! No ticks, clicks or smoke. Oil colour is healthy, there is a bit of white crust on the metal around the rad hoses but none at the places where the hoses actually join. So maybe condensation?

No leaks on the driveway where it was pictured and sitting when I saw it. Tyres are pretty good, maybe 10k left on them?

Please don't tell me that owner is considering scrapping it?!

No but he spoke like he really wanted to get rid of it. With this scrappage scheme he may well do so.

That'd be a shame... looks very clean, bet it'd sell if manual though

Well he cant put it into a scrapage scheme unless its motd. which means spending money on in just to give it away.
Was it tested Speedy88?

I think the moneys a bit srong, but i hope someone takes it. Looks nice to me.
Ive always fancied a vario or a daf.

They always seem to come up when im skint though.

The MoT runs out on 17th July and the car is taxed until September. Speedometer reading on 17th July 2008 was 31550 and is now 31602 - a total of 52 miles in a year! At this rate there should be no problem!

Just an update from this guy - it sailed through it's MOT on July 10th.
