Current situation is as follows.

Solex 28/34 Cisac Z10 for the B172k.

"Webcon" rebuild kit pt.no.9631010650 is still available from Webcon as is the float (which is prone to soaking up fuel and giving a very rich mixture).

Having recently rebuilt Shimons Cisac on his "new" Redline, (ah! bless - he and Sharon came all the way from Manchester and back in a day just to see poor old Mac) I can vouch that it is an excellent kit and includes the carb to insulating plate and plate to manifold gaskets.

As of today Webcon have no stock but kits can be ordered for deliver later in the year.


Weber 32DIR (all varients) for the B14, 0E - 4E.

This kit does NOT contain gaskets for the upper or lower insulating plates (between pre-heat flange and carb and flange and manifold).

Neither plates nor gaskets are available anymore. BUT:-
Webcon had 2 upper plates left (which I have purchased) and do stock equivalent parts from the DGV carburettor.
Lower insulating plate with bonded on gaskets pt.no.9990002600 and gaskets to use with old plate pt.no.9990001000 (2 reqd.).At present they have pleanty of stock but I have purchased a quantity to secure at least a limited supply.
I shall also now look into the possibility of producing gaskets for the upper plate.

Of possible future interest - I am currently working on a comprehensive illustrated guide covering the operation and rebuilding of the 32DIR series carbs.

Debs and I are going up to the land of my ancestors for a couple of weeks and I intend to call in to see George Mitchell - and find out just how many damn 300s he has got!!

32DIR rebuild guide? - yes please! Mine has been rebuilt 2-3 years ago by one of the previous owners, but you never know when the need arises... I can probably guess my way through it even now - once (or actually, twice ) rebuilt a Peugeot 309 carb (Weber 36 TLC or something like that) and learned a lot while doing that. But it would be nice not to waste any parts.

By the way, do you have a source for the paper gasket between the carb and the filter housing (on a 1.4) or should I just cut my own from gasket paper? As I know it's not terribly critical to operation...

At the moment I don't have a source of the air filter housing to carb gasket but make up as reqd. from 1.2mm gasket paper.

I will look at the possibility of producing some.

As you say it's not "mission critical" but does prevent any unfiltered air being drawn in.

The guide I am working on is "UK biased" but things should be much the same in Finland except your engine is an 'S'version so the 32DIR probably is equipped with throttle delay on deceleration diaphram and possibly a throttle damper dashpot (both devices are to minimise emissions during brief periods of closed throttle such as gear changing). If you PM me your name and address I'll be happy to send you a copy when the guide is done (it will be far to large for e-mail).

for a few years i buy carb refurb kits at a dutch company www.bccp.nl, they deliver kits from the company Meat & Doria; proper kit for the weber is W250.2 or W250.
those kits include the gaskets above.

Looking at the 340 user's manual, B14.4S has EGR and Pulsair... while B14.4E doesn't. I always thought the "S" was a rather short-lived version? At least in my engine, both the intake and exhaust plumbing is remarkably simple, so I assume I have the "E" version.

check it at the left side of the engine, just above the oil filter. then you'll instantly know for sure

Back to this one. Yes my lump is a B14.4E. I received a package from mac a couple weeks ago but didn't have the opportunity to test out the gasket he sent me. Until now... The original was 0.5mm thick, the new one is 1.2mm - as said, it's a non-critical gasket but it's nice to have one. Mine was already old and cracked. PIctures: The lower mounting bolt is missing because the thread was wrecked. I ended up sticking a nyloc nut below the carb as a temporary fix, and will try looking for proper thread inserts.

Oh and about the guide - it seems to be very detailed, covering all the different revisions. And so it happens that I may need to use at least part of the information very soon, as I found that the inlet manifold gasket has a leak (between block and manifold) while hunting for a vacuum leak in the engine. Also found a couple perished rubber vacuum hoses but replacing them didn't make any difference yet.
