F7P turbo conversion

has anyone on here done the F7P/F7R conversion but with a turbo thrown into the mix?
was thinking last night about what engine conversion i could do, and i thought the 130bhp that i'll get from the conversion isnt enough, (i currently have 170bhp from a 1.3 in car that weighs 850kg. lol)
so thought about turboing the 16v lump. figured would be an easy 300odd bhp.
what are the limits transmission wise?

transmission has been known to break on stock powers.
but should safely see arround 200bhp. before major work is needed. but then thats a guestimate and all it ever will be untill some one comes along and tries it.
The engine was buildt for tubo hence why it has under piston oil squirters. but its alot of work and money involved to build it.

Engine wasnt built for turbo at all as it was built for GP A rallying which requires NA.
Anyway the propshaft is your problem here, and to build a strong F7* Turbo engine requires lots of money!!!
But could quite easily be done.

I've thought about doing it. If i was, it would be at a low boost level, just to give a bit more power+torque. There seems to be diminishing returns in going for too much power, as the others have said, the prop wont take it.

bugger that scuppers my idea then
are there any bolt on replacement props/gearboxes/diffs that can handle more power or is it rebuild and lots of money time?

Get a custom prop made up, they can be quite cheap if you look at the right places

what about diffs? and gearboxes?clutches?
basically my engine currently puts out 270bhp and 260lb/ft and i'm about to up the power again to over 300bhp and probably 300lb/ft as well................so whats likely to blow from the volvo point of view if i bolt that lump into a 340?

clutchplate won't hold that power and you need that to accomodate with the volvo clutch shaft.
diff will hold if you weld it, attachment for the driveshafts won't hold
gearbox can hold that power under normal driving, but with burnouts etc you will knock the teeth of the gears; it's only been made to cope with 250Nm.
any plans for going past 250Nm will requiare a new setyp of powertrain from the flywheel to the wheels..

Big power eh?
I really dont see the benefit from those type of figures, but thats my opinion not to annoy anyone here!
What I'd really like to see, is an F7P on itb's. I've thought about different things in terms of axles, props and boxes, 240 and even pinto/duratec with a type 9 and an english axle. Or....... 4 AGE etc.
I've got a welder, english, type 9, pinto etc ready for a small fee, need the skills though.

never seen an f7p on bodies, but loads of f7r's in the clios are on bodies, they tend to bin the 1.8 in favour of the 2.0 as theres more gains to be had, bigger valves etc.
most i've seen make on RR is 241bhp and 1/4 mile af 13.1 from an ITB'd F7R in a clio

Any hints as to where the right places are?

me, Frits Hendrickx and Erik Buijs have ordered our axles at Reco-Prop
however we're having a lot of "balancing" issues so neither of us can give a good feedback on it, they've gone back to the UK for the 3rd time now so aftersales service is good actually

Tis where Husky got his done, and I've had some non 300 stuff done before. Great place, you have to visit

They seem to really know there stuff when I spoke to them, for pretty much every car from what I've heard from others too.
