I'm looking for a nice 340 1.4 with manual transmission, either 3 or 5 door. It needs to be a nice low mileage car with service history and none of the usual rust to the front panel etc. I'll pay a reasonable sum for the right car.

I'm still looking for that elusive rust free low mileage 340. I initially said I wanted a 1.4 but I could be tempted by a really nice 1.7 so if you know to anything suitable please let me know.

Search over. I've put a deposit on the 18000 mile E plate 340 DL advertised elsewhere on the site. OK, by 340 standards it wasn't cheap at £750 and it will need a clutch sooner rather than later but the underside is the best I've seen, the spare wheel has never been fitted and the mileage is verified. It does need a boot carpet as the original is somewhat crumpled and the genuine radio is only MW/LW. There's a minor parking dent to the nearside front arch and a very minor ding in the tailgate which should 'dent service' out. Leigh the seller was brilliant and literally allowed me to pull the car apart before making an offer. I'm hopefully collecting the car within the next few days so I'll post some pictures as soon as possible.

Sounds very nice, ok.. 750 is a fair price for a 300... but to be honest it's still a bargain, buy a cheaper 300 and you'd probably end up spending more anyway within a few months. I'd be happy

Nice one Ian, will look forward to seeing the pics. I rue the day back in September when I decided to sell my 340, for £80 I needed it gone at the time though. Trading up to a 460 has been a very bad idea, I've been having no end of electrical problems with it.

get a 340 again!!400's are known for their bad electrics!!

Yeah, lesson learnt the hard way! Seeing pics of Ian's new purchase will probably spur me on to come back to the 300 fraternity

Are we sure that's the right phrase to use? If you do come back to 300's there seems to be loads of nice low mileage ones coming out and about!
