Rear doors on early Mk2's

Post by SteveP »

Just out of interest are the rear doors on 300's all the same? I've found a nice looking 1982 345GL special edition, 13" alloys, sunroof, gls style interior, white pinstriping, early dash (think it's a Blueline) but the rear doors may be past saving.

I know the door cards are different but would everything line up?? Triggered from finding out the earlier front doors are different!

According to the parts catalogue, it's the same story as with the fronts - '83 on doors are different. The door pulls are in a different position. But whether or not the mountings to the chassis pillars are different I couldn't say ...

Cheers

Damn... hmm this is what I was suspecting :( The doors aren't thaaaaat bad but it'd be easier finding good doors than repairing I suspect

Thanks Mark, that would be appreciated :)

A "MkII phase one" special edition sounds like the type of car which needs saving ... Classic potential ;-)

That's what I'm thinking! But if I can't get a local garage I'll get the owner to post up on here

82 345 has still the mk1 interior (though different from 76-77), internal mounting positions are different.

I was wondering if volvo left the old mountings on the later doors so it could be used for both?

Who actually has an early 345 who could take the door panel off.

+1! It would seem pretty silly not to, with vehicle repairs/spares etc

it costs money to combine 2 styles if you only need 1 and never use the other in the factory.
