Busting open mk1/2 tail lights

As some of you know I want to remove a reverse lense from a fucked unit and refit it to my good one.
I stuck it in the fan oven earlier at around 90* for under 10 minutes (including oven warming up) and here's what happened

Good thing I cut off a practice section first! The 'glue' hasn't even budged BTW.

The hair dryer technique doesn't work either. It almost seems like the lenses are superglued to the body :/ There is no evidence of any bonding like you seem to get with other make lights


All I can think now is plan B. Cut the lense out with a Dremmel.

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried fitting it to a car and slamming the boot?

Have a pop with the Dremel, just make sure no one is behind you to give you a nudge when you least need it...

I don't know about the tail lights, but the front blinkers are heat-glued together. At least the plastic is melted.

Might sound silly but, cheese wire? I can imagine it would sink right through glue.

Hi mate.
If nothing else works,you could always put some gravy on the lights,boil a couple of irish spuds
and have lot for dinner.
