how do i go about it guys

i know i need a low psi pump, and have seen some on ebay. but what do i do about the return pipe? as when the fuel chamber is full, as standard i guess there is somesort of pressure valve in the fuel pump and it gets pumped back into the tank, where as if i go with a electric pump, there is no were for a return??
asking as i am possibly getting some cams and will need to convert to electric pump.

On a DAF 66, I used a low psi (about 3psi) Facet cube pump and didn't need a return line as the float valve was good. Fitted it under the boot floor at the rear of the car and made a blanking plate for the engine block. As far as I know these pumps prefer to push that pull and like to be near the tank.

I know if a higher psi pump is used it may need a pressure regulator.

I can't remember exactly the fuel pump arrangement on my 343, but I think that already has a return line. Certainly the pump has 3 stubs on it.

Also remember to sort out the wiring properly, so the pump shuts off properly in an emergency. There are various ways to achieve this.

Which engine? My 360 carb has a pressure regulator module which diverts the remaining pressure not wanted by the carb to the tank. I guess you just have to get a fuel pump that works within the range of the pressure regulator.

its the 1.7

any one got any pics of what they have done? for the return line etc

i know its only 3psi of fuel, but surely it will over fill the fuel chamber on idle if left long enough, i know the fuel cut off will stop the fuel getting into the chamber, but what do you do about the fuel leaving the pump and building up? surely need some sort of fpr and a return line?

just found this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fuel-Pressure-Reg ... 19b68b528b

does this go as per the diagram below, off a t peice and going to the fuel tank, or does it go inline between the carb and pump

I'm using Pierburg 7.21440.51.0 for several years, no problems at all. It is located under the bonnet, but going to move it to under rear seat. There is no back line, no pressure regulator, nothing except filter before carb
