It was something like 4 bolts, fuel line, wiring harness and drive shafts, it is easiest car to change engine that has been made, well that is if you can lift it enough. Replacing spark plugs is faster when you undo the motor

I hope he did it as that would be one less total idiot around and one less B M W which always seem to have faulty indicators!

cheers - Ben

Yeah agreed super silly easy to work on thats why i like them, or in standard form atleast. I've removed mine in 20 casual minutes or so, i'm sure even i could do it a lot quicker if you were doing a time trial. With twin 40's the manifolds make it nearly physically impossible to get to the plugs so just as easy to drop the motor or remove the carbs/manifold but then you have to faff about setting the linkage up again.

The beetle fan trick is a good one but i wouldn't trust it to be shimmed correctly as all the belts vary in size.

Whats the matter with the car i'm driving can't you tell that it's out of style?

That is bit of annoyance that if you buy say 4 exactly same belts, you get 4 different sizes, now put 2 of them to 300 and you got one that wobbles around and one that is piss poor tight to get into place. There are no more those two packs available, or have not seen, those should of been perfect matches. Also with 360 I choose to get one size longer than what it states in manual, lot easier to get into place and also there is plenty of marginal left for getting it tightened. However I have aftermarket alternator, some french name made in slovenia or some place like that

replacing alternator is very easy job in 360 and 240, imo. If one has bit of experience and correct tools it is not very much longer than 10 engine swaps to beetle
