Crazy rising insurance prices - Anyone else?

Post by SteveP »

Just thought I'd ask to see if it's happening elsewhere in the country!!?

Insurance prices for me have risen rapidly in the last 2 years. To the point where anything reasonably fast is just ridiculous to insure. I'm 24 with 6yrs no claims, 15k a year and park on the drive, my occupation isn't high risk or anything. Plus I can't see what's suddenly gone wrong with the area (it's no worse than it was 2yrs ago for example).

Eg. 3 years ago I was insuring my 360 GLT for about £380, now I can't get it below £650... ouch! Both totally standard. My S40 T4 was only about that to insure 2yrs ago!

dude, i got insured this year for the 360.
10k p.a, parked on the street, licence less than a year, no no-claims and it was about £620 I think.
Excess was a pooper though. £300 quid.

1st Central through goCompare or comparethemearcat or similar.

Is that with the same insurer? Or do you shop around every year?

It get's cheap when you're over 30!

1972 DAF, 1982 Volvo, 1986 Reliant. All three u/l miles, fully comp, CA postcode, sm6 , £130. Even when I was on a TW postcode I wasn't paying much.

That is stupidly high increase to prices, imo.

Maybe they could give you some reason for increase to prices from your last insurance company?

Stock 2.0L GLT prices I've found to have risen hugely, Endsleigh quoted me 300 for a non engine modded (kit, alloys, interior etc) 1.7, or £650 for a GLT.

I found it much cheaper to insure a 2.0 16V 340 than a stock GLT, but I'll go and sit in the naughty corner as you know this already!

Strange you say that man.
When i transfered my insurance from the black GLT to the GLE, they knocked 25 quid off.
never thought much of it at the time.
GLTs must be much faster and more dangerous then.

Is that for 1 year? Then it's cheap
If I would insure a 360GLE, with 1 year experience, I would pay almost €1200 euro a year!!!
And that is the lowest, only damage to other people is insured...

Good for me the car is on my dads name, he only pays €57 euro a year
