Hi all

I bought a volvo 340 which has CVT gearbox.Previous owner sold it because He thought that diff has broken.I thought that I will brake it to spare parts to my other 340.But it is very nice car looks like new and has done only 151000 km.
When the engine runs,nothing happens cvt belt does not run and the cardan stands still(I think, I could not see it,but there were no cardan noise)
So it could be clutch? or something else.

Something to do with the clutch biting point? Anjo is the man to ask.

Broken prop? Rubber sheared?

Either that or the clutch is worn out. DO NOT rev engine in P position.

it is normal for a cvt that nothing happens when engine is idling, the clutch engages slightly above idle and then you're on your way.

get the car on axlestands/bridge with the rear wheels free of the ground, run the engine; put it in D and let someone give throttle. while you're under the car you first check if the clutch output shaft spins and work your way back (cardanaxle spinning, gearbox inputshaft spinning) this way you can determine where the fault is. if you get no drive from the clutch output shaft (even at 5000rpm); then you'll have to take it apart to see weather the flywheel or pressureplate is damaged or overheated (blue color) by the clutchplate. clutchplate and flywheel or pressureplate (or in rare scenario's both!) have to be replaced

I found the problem.Clutchplate was dead and also pressureplate is damaged.Plate has little blue circule on it and surface is rough too.How hard/expensive is to find new pressureplate?

And cvt drives again.
Cvt´s noise is firstly little odd,but I can live with that.And of course there is a little problem with reverse gear.When you put gear in and give some throttle and then comes noise like prrrrrrr and nothing happens.Then I but in neutral give some throttle and then put in reverse and gearbox works like it should be.
So something needs adjusting or...?

I have that problem too, might be the selector rod adjustment.

If I select R, and then double-check that it's pushed fully forward in the R position, it never happens. It only happens if it is not quite fully in the R position.

jep, best bet is to adjust the gearselector

however; if the play is in the primary gearselactor mechanism; the only solution will be changing the primary unit. or go to P first and then pull it back to R

okay,I found from draft that selector lever.So how it should be done?

place the gear selector in P, disconnect the gear selector lever by taking the clip away; a bit hard to reach since this is above the propshaft.

next; put the gearselector in R, and carefully press the rod 1 click back so the primary gearbox is in R; line up the beam with the selector lever and see if the holes are a perfect match; if not adjust it.

repeat this process but this time with the lever for D, if the holes are not aligned this time then the play on the gearselectormechanism in the primary is worn out

I will solve this problem when cvt´s belts arrive and also change gearbox and diff oil.Also today come up a new problem which shows there is somekind of mess under the car.When gearbox is in position P and you give some trottle(yes I know,I should´t do that)and then car started to drive backwards So I have two reverse gears,mm lucky me
And in position P should be rear wheels be blocked?When I get one rear wheel up the ground then I can turn it.
But otherwise is car in good condition

actually; P = reverse gear; with a gear blockage. a faulty leaversetting could cause this, play in the gearselectormechanism of the primary unit can cause this too..

just a quick side question; you changed the clutch, is the airgap correctly shimmed? (0,1-0,3mm)
