unleaded in a B19?

Can anyone tell me if my 1982 GLS (B19) must run on leaded (now lead replacement) petrol. Since I bought it in summer last year I've not really done many miles in it and have used unleaded (It's only done 948 miles of light driving since last March, before i got it!). I've noticed what I think could be slight pinking under load, the timing was set properly as far as I understand, after long term storage before I got it so I wonder if it's the wrong octane value with unleaded. Also will the valve seats be ok or do they need leaded fuel?

P.S on the same subject, will my 1980 343 run on unleaded too? (if it ever gets back on the road!!) I remember being told by a volvo garage that the '76 343 I used to have would need leaded so I used to buy addative for it. What was the changeover year?

Looks like it has to be lead addative for the 343 then, as it's a B14.1E (I think I just wiped away 30 years of oil to find out!! Engine should be mint underneath all that oil

)
Still not totally sure about the B19. According to what Classicswede said on that thread, all red blocks are ok on unleaded, just the octane to watch out for then. I'm sure he's right, maybe the timing needs checking if it's pinking or I need to go for a higher octane unleaded?

no! you'll need a B14.3 or B14.4 head before you can use unleaded fuel
B14.3 was introduced with the first badge of 340's in '83
you could also bolt one of those heads to the .1E engine, i went that route for my 343 and it works excellent!

Thanks! thought it would be leaded. Worth watching out for then, all those people with early cars, even up '83. I always assumed that my 76 car was the odd one out, cos it was so old.
What octane rating is best for the B19 (assuming unleaded is ok valve seat wise?)
