Sump guard mounting

I have a sump guard ready to go on my 340 and am wondering how others have mounted them? I'm wondering whether it will be solid enough if I put four M8 bolts through the existing holes for the splash guard on the flange of the cross member? As for the front I can't see anything substantial to mount it onto other than the anti-roll bar pick ups?
