URGET HELP NEEDED!!!!

Post by Doherty_nova »

hey guys, been on the down low on here, not much to report back....

until now!!

tho i need major help as soon as possible!!

iv my wheels half ordered tho im stuck to which ET to go for..

the wheels are 13" x 8" and the 2 ET choices i have are ET28 or ET1..

iv seen on nikdevs thread (awesome thread BTW) that his alleycats are ET1 and his rims are same size as mine an likely running same tyre...175-50-13

so come on guys and help me out here...i was thinkin go for the 28s then jus space out what i need but if ET1 is what suits id be better buyin them outright and save some hassle

cars a 91 340 GL and shall be going down 3! up front ( if dai gives the ok ) and -2.5" on the rear...pics will follow guys as id like your views as iv yet to see ( and only ever seen 1 guy mention wanting to see ) these wheels on a 300

manys thanks to the person who replies 1st,2nd and 3rd :340: sm4

Really, you want 32 to 38 for a good flush fit.
I'd say 28 over 1, and use a spacer, but ive just failed on my last offset debacle.

more advice needed gents.

volvosneverdie...... you get top prize sm4

lol

yeah id jotted that 32...38 down also from teh wheel guide on here but id taken that as whats needed for 'normal' wheels...

thinkin teh ET would need to be dropped so the width of these wheels dont foul the rear shock or anythin upfront??

wheres the fellows with the minilights??

I found that perfect offset for 8j's is et20, sits perfectly flush with arch and doesn't rub on full compression due to slight camber.

so my advice is you get the et28's, and if you aren't happy with the fit then get a 6-8mm spacer. I'd expect that a et1 will need arch work to fit, especially if the car is low. i don't see you having any problem with a 2-3" drop and et28.

i can only speak for the rear end, as i run 7j's et19 on the front. i don't think et28 will foul on the spring or anything like that. can't really tell you about steering lock issues though.

but then this also depends on the look that you are going for, if you want it loooooow and wiiiiiiide then go for the et1's, roll the arches and stretch your tyres, make the buggers fit. if you want it to look good without being much work or hassle then get the et28's. It's your call.

hope that's of some help.

slider man....THANK YOU!!

I like hearing from fellas with 8j rims and what they've done..

looks like im gonna go with your ET28 and work from that, im after the loww an wide look but dont fancy having to do any bodywork as rust is minimal and i want it as standard as poss ( well ok, a few wee touches  lol ) if anyone could shed ANY light on any probs i may encounter up front with 8j's and -3"s?? it would be of much help.

its not as bad when you know what to expect, nothing worse than spending a day or 2 at a car only for you to go to move an hear a clunk or feel somethings not right.

oh oh, iv got myself some 2" blocks in the mean time off a mate, jus to bring down the rear until i get a place that does 3" ones sm4

If i get bored then i will chuck my 8's on the front and see what the clearance is like. I'm sure someone else can give a better reply within a shorter period of time though, so good luck.

post pics as you go!

ok...i know its been like 7/8 weeks since this....

6 of those was spent waitin on my wheels....

( cutting time so pasting what i wrote on another forum, so bear that in mind if theres a :wag: etc jammed in amonst the blabber, thank you lol )

ok, where do i start..... basically i ordered a set of classics 7/8 weeks ago on monday.

first was told they hadn't them in stock in england and would take max 2/3 weeks.

3 weeks later, phone call sayin boat delayed a week.

week later told few days.

few days told wrong offset as to what i ordered but would work out better asked if that was them there and told they where still in england.

told then last fri they'd be here on monday/tuesday, phoned on tue to be told wrong wheel nuts had been sent but proper ones are being posted.

called out yesterday an told waitin on deliveryman and would get phoned an even late on he'd meet up.

silence.

phone call at 5 te 10 this mornin sayin del man didn arrive but should be there before 12.

phone call at 11:50, wheels where there, said i'd be out on my lunch after jus after 2 an lift them told me to bring a nut an he'd look to see if he had ones that'd suit in mean time.

landed at 2:12pm to be greeted by a shiney spankin brand new set of.......

15" ATS CUPS!!!! :wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

i ordered CLASSICS.

Image

and got,

Image

now, i know they both start with a C an end with a S but how in the name of jesus' dead donkey could you mix those up?

so i left that day with money back ( +£15 )

and now back to only V3M... :340:

phoned rimstyle over in england myself on that friday...they only had ET1s in stock......

so, after seein nikdev an some others on here with ET1s i said yeah why the fork not... was well cheesed off at this stage lik lol

tuesday afternoon at work...... a normal regular del van pulls in at usual time thought nothing.... until he produced the 2 ATS marked boxes... yes i did go weak at teh knees lol

ripped open teh boxes an seen MY wheels...each in perfect condition. not a blemish :D:D

home that evening and screrwed 1 on to see what they're like.... all i can say is ZOMG!!!!!!!!! lol

unfortunatly fellas iv only pics on my phone an last time i wiped out teh crap on my compooper i cleared teh programme for swappin them on here, and iv tried sendin them in a e-mail but thats playin up/as is bluetooth :( so no pics as yet... but im workin on everythin at the mo....have this car to duty pay outta the south of ireland then tax it up here, and i jus forked out to tax my runabout last fri :(

still tryin to gather the monies for the front springs and spoiler off Dai...all V3M contributions are very much welcome lolol...hey the more you give the sooner this thing happens!! lol FAO Dai, this is the part where you reply.... "hey man, its ok, il give you the spoiler free, and springs half price" ) lololololol sorry...

but thats all i can really update, well apart from the 2 brand new in the box ( but still roughly guessin by dust levels and the fact the dust has blue mould that has dust on it im guessin 10yrs old lol )

they're mint.com tho, nuts an bolts still in the wee bags lol

annnd i think i mentioned in my other thread that she passed MOT after failing on a stickin rear p/s drum ( car was laid up since..i forget...the bro swears he too left handbrake off but it was stuck on when i went to lift it to give it a quick wash before tryin the mot to see wat it needed...was expecting a fail on headlights and maybe bushes from bein parked up) but thats all it faild on...well brake light out too but that was jus loose ( shows exactly how much i looked at it before going to mot lol )

so free'd that and its now MOT'd in NI under the chassis number lol....

i promise i shall update soon...with pics 340pw

(and to see if Dai did feel generous lololololol sm4 )

That's a poor offset dude... way too high. I had 30's and reckoned they were alright but I'd probably suggest an offset of 25 on a 7-8" wide wheel, as long as the car is lowered otherwise you risk the roller skate look
