we got a loan car!

Post by pyro »

Well after my neighbour reversed into my dads c3, we now have a chevy somthing or other. its good to rag about as its not mine!
this is the damage a xc90 can do going backwards at well under walking pace.

its a possible write off says the insurance cos its ripped the sill member, tho cos of the age of the car they migt try to repair

Ouch, thats a fair bit of damage there - Either proves the fragility of modern cars, or that Volvos reputation for quality builds still has some bearing..........

Thrash that hire car. This is now your porpoise in life. Do not fail us!!!! :)

How anyone can crash XC90 at walking speed with all it's helper gadgets is well beyond my abilities to understand, but luckily person responsible is known and it should not be too much of problem.

Also luckily it was just C3, would been much worse if he would reversed to 300.

Some Korean Chevy, hard to trash really, it has probably rev limiter and all other stupid equipment that does not let it to be trashed

That my friend, explains it all

There are very fine drivers among them, but also those that are incapable to do anything right with a car.

What kind of motor they put into Aveo, one from scooter?

The Aveo has the Ecotec engine from the Vauxhall Corsa. It's an excellent unit but a little high geared so it needs to revved fairly hard for brisk performance. On the positive side though if you drive it sensibly its good for the best part of 60mpg. My wife recently bought a new one after running a Kia Picanto for three years of trouble free motoring. So far we haven't been able to fault the Chevy although I think the Kia possible has the edge when it comes to the quality of fixtures and fittings but no real criticism yet.

re: thrashing loaner cars: the Dutch AA provided me a Renault Grand Scénic for my 340-related troubles lately. It was only a few months old with 5.000 miles on it and it was a right sodding mess. I actually took pride in adhering to the 'please return clean and with a full tank' rule but it was dirty outside when I got it and the interior looked like a football stadium right after an FA Cup match. Apparently some kids were let loose in it so I had to vacuum clean half a candy store and half a playground's worth of sand and soil out of it. The SD card in the factory fitted TomTom system (which has all the maps on it) was either nicked or being held at the office on purpose. Imagine the poor fella buying this particular Renner as a Quality Used Car from an official dealership...

I also had the pleasure this year to drive a Spanish hire car. It was a Ford C-Max and the people who rented it before had managed to burn the clutch only a thou away from its bare metal in just 8.000 miles. If I had lent my car and got it returned in such a state I'd go properly medieval on these people.

When i had the bump into the honda i got a 2008 Focus 1.8 TD. Not a bad chassis to be fair. The hire guy made a point of saying how good it is on fuel.
He gave it to me with less than 300 miles on the clock and an average MPG of 48. something.

I gave it back with over 1000k on the clock and an average of 27.4!!!!! HAHA,you just have to love the 'I dont care Factor' of a hire car!!!!

Well weve just past 1500 on the chevy now!
thats abotu 1200 miles in 8 days i think

shite on fuel, where dad works round weatherby the hills just drink fuel, as well as all the kit he carries for work. cost alot more to run than the c3.
i dont doubt it would be good on the motorway at 50. (it wont hold 60 in 5th with me and dad in the car )

still no news from the insurance and repair garage abotu the C3
