Just wondering if this type of rust under the front wings is reparable...
... it doesn't look too bad really but it goes through to the inner wing, under the bonnet and box section, and, just for fun, through the bulkhead, too.
That car from Hull has had a hard-time. Just hoping the welder is not going to say 'bin it'.

Everything is repairable, but you will probably find it is alot worse than it looks now. You need to uncover to good metal, and sometimes that can be weak if the other side is rusted. You can use a heat gun to soften the underseal, lift and edge and peel off large sections (try not to breath in the smoke).
To be honest it looks pretty bad and I have gone to great lengths to repair mine for the love of it, yours is alot worse. I would be very surpised if the car is not rusted through in many other spots. I would be more worried about its safety than cheaply repairing it.
Have you been over the underneath with a screwdriver and tried to poke holes in it? Check the sills, rear sping mounts, rear cross box section, front chassis leg seams near the radius arm mounts.
The suspension underside, 'bog... that's not too bad, it's just getting a good job done on it by a good welder for a good price. That said, as always - Wire brush on drill, heatgun, whatever - remove all paint and rust, then see.
if you can find the repair pieces for it, it might be an almost-economical repair. I would think the pieces to repair the strut cups/assoc. bits would be some of the few body parts that are still obtainable. fingers crossed.
That looks like a *nice* welding job on bogs, it's not too much but NEEDS doing... I wouldn't want to weld anything smaller, feel I'm hurting the car unnecessarily.
That arch is medieval, totally agree. My back arches aren't anything near as bad.
Hey, bog - The MOT station you use - he passed that rust yeah, I want to take it to him in april for another. ????
JESUS CHRIST MAN!!! Bad arch, Naughty arch . That volvo's not been wasted on fuddy duddies... Has it ever experienced traction It's sandblasted itself.
Man, the rust goes all round - only about a quarter of it has fallen off.... just so happens that I collected a few repair panels for wheel arches a few years ago so I'm thinking its do-able with a sympathetic / creative welding type of person. I don't know who passed it to be honest because it came from Hull on the back of Dai's trailer so who MOT'd it there is mystery to me.... I may have the old cert but there wasn't loads of paperwork with it..... come to think of it the seller was going to try and MOT it before handing it over but for once I may have had some correct foresight and said don't bother!! The interior is pretty good and complete!! Anyhow, where there's a will, there's a way... and it isn't metallic paint so I'm hoping that I'll get quite a good colour match with aerosols, famous last....

H mate.
I remember having a Datsun Sunny Coupe once. It was so rusty that
every time you went over a bump in the road, another
bit fell off the car
Cheers Mark.
