Replacement Sills

Post by 340GLT »

Well guys the time had come where any sane person would have thought about sending the '340GLT' the the scrap yard in the sky whereas I being insane and all went about finding the price of repair panels for the sills. and non genuine are damm cheap.
£11.70 for a full sill replacement panel for passenger side of a 3 door, drivers side is also the same price.
My friend is welding it in for me and his dad respraying it with stone chip and then me being a student and pennyless was looking around where i work and found a spare colour chip for the hammerite range of paints and they do a satin smooth grey which is nearly identical to my body colour, so at less than £10 for 750ml its damm cheap compared to car paint.
So my mates dad will thin it down and spray it on for me!!!
The beast will be back soon stronger than ever!!! Because when the sills are done i have a front valance waiting to be fitted!!!! sm14
Pics to follow!!
If anyone wants any info on part numbers etc let me know!!!!
I'm getting anxious now as i've been without the beast for all of 28 hours!!!! Anyways had to write this to take my mind off things!!!! Lol!!!
Cheers guys Adam

Getting my car back tommorrow!! Turned out to be much worse than we first thought, as the jacking point was shot and the front mounting for the leaf spring was on its way out too  , so decided to do the lot!!! She will be solid for a fair few years to come now!!!!
Only the drivers side left to do!!!
Cheers Adam

I've hit the jackpot in teh last few weeks.. found someone at work who aprenticed in a boat yard, welding genius, so hopefully all will be well when I decide to do it. Had a lucky break, he was standing next to a 1.7 as I was leaving, so I asked if he wanted any bits off Beast. Ended up as a mate, whos trying to pursuade me to do some kinda wishbone suspesion front end, so he can too... nutcase.

Anyway, point being I may be keen on them sills and where they came from mate ;)
