I was just finishing fixing my ambient air temperature gauge, hopefully, which was flicking to zero everytime I turned the fan down from 3 to 2. I changed the little capacitor, which hopefully will fix it.
Anyway to the point of my post. As I was closing it together, the plastic symbol insert thingy dropped out. Nothing new there, however, as I picked it up to put it back, I bent it slightly by mistake, and it snapped in two places.
OOPS! I've superglued it together again but it doesn't look right. So just a word of warning, treat it carefully.
BTW if anybody's got a dash display from a 1986 VDO unit I'd love to have it. Later ones will work but the green colour on the indicators is different.
Beware the plastic symbols on the dashboard
the 86 car i had has the same green colour as later cars - i believe it was earlier cars that have the different colour
