You won't believe this..but your windscreen isn't the only one claimed by the gravelly doom of Chatsworth!

Friend had a Vectra estate, and he suffered a chipped windscreen. It wasn't so bad to start off with, but he kept putting the repair off, and it was because of this procrastination that a crack developed, and grew over 30cm long. His own fault for being so damned lazy!

I was thinking that. That's the price for not being covered, too!

the crack in the window grew an inch in the space of four hours!!
times running out
on coundown to payday 6 days to go
yes thats the price for the tinted windscreen with the built in sunstrip
the crack kept getting bigger because the stone was still in there and the window expands and contracts at a different rate to the stone.

arnt volvos a crackin good laugh!

sorry that was lame

Think yourself lucky...that is an amazingly good price.

The real fun starts when your rear screen needs to be replaced. Screen isn't a problem...but the trim around it? More or less unavailable. The all-in bill is unlikely to be much below £200. And you can't remove the screen without busting the trim.

I bought a new rear screen - bargain at £25 (all my demister elements have been broken), but I'm going to make mighty sure this demister works before fitting the trims I FINALLY found to it!

cheers

You`re right about the rear screen there James

I ended up trawling the scrappies for a complete matching tailgate when I needed a new screen.

Much easier to fit too and only a tenner

My solution was to smash a scrap screen and pick the glass out of the trim! No loss to them...I've never seen a 300-series tailgate removed at this yard.

cheers

took the day off work on wednesday to get the screen fitted sat there for an hour and a half before the fitter came round and announced he had put a crack in the new screen while fitting it!!
and then tells me they cant get a new one till friday and then asks me if i can take the day off on friday to have it done!!
Ive had it done now they had a pro do it this time
The most worry thing is that he came to tell me it had broke whilst carrying a crow bar!
i hope he dident try to fit it with the crow bar

LOL!! Glad that it wasn't just mine it happened to, I too had the sheepish look and geezer saying "sorry mate, I just cracked the new one" Wonder if they break more than they put in....

(Oh, yeah, after that it leaked too, seemingly if one cracks, they get scared and don't use enough goo, might be worth keeping an eye on for a while)
