Possibly it has been detuned, but its not easy to rectify.

The carb models need a new carb aka Foggy's and the injections need a new injection system, cos other than overall fuelling adjustments, you can't alter the map (unless you know how to adjust all the resistors and capacitors in the ECU circuit. The LE-Jetronic is an old technology analogue system)

Looks like you'll find out soon enough. Looks a tidy car that, apart from the odd dent.

It's injection, how hard would it be to re-tune it though, is it feasable

It is... but you either need a new ECU (MS time... petta knows how, and I've driven it since, definately quicker than my GLT was) or reverse engineer the LEjet system. There is a schematic around somewhere, but unless you have a *proper* knowledge of analogue electronics, and a few weeks on your hands, don't even bother ;)

Detuned in the way of low-ish power output for their engine capacity and designed to last a heck of a long time.

As everyone else said, the restricting part is the fuel system. Andy, how does yours go compared to running it with standard LE-Jet? Because I thought your 360 was pretty damn quick anyway... or atleast it felt it!

I dunno really. Feels quicker, I think, might be my imagination, but also rough round the edges cos the map's not quite there yet.

I'm not sure that Beast's engine was in the best condition (Chris said it needed a service) so don't know how good a comparison that is.

It's also comparing high compression vs low compression...

Stuntman, I assure you it'll be alot quicker than a 2 litre 240 auto!

Yeah, deffo quicker. But does the B200E in the 240 produce more bhp?

considering the 300 exhaust i'm not supprised it's feels slower. your downpipe in the 300's is the most twisted peice of shite i've ever seen.

200's have a much better one.

note the downpipe on my jetex system, 2 smooth pipes with a nice 2 to 1 join

also a cam change is a good idea

Feels slower? Slower than what? Theres no way a 2.0 360 is going to feel slower than a 2.0 auto 240.

The comparison of power we were takling about was LE-Jet vs MS on a 360

I agree. B200K in my 360 is quicker than the B23E was in my auto 245. Rev's out much the same (maybe a little further in the B200K) but that auto sucks a fair bit of power and there's a good 300kg weight saving in the 360.

But you cant fit a fridge in the 360!

Cheers

I have that exhaust on my 200, with the jetex induction cone, cam next, or maybe a V8, but I'm still thinking about that.

I'll have a search to find out about ms and then post more questions, cheers chaps

Mike, you do realise that the jetex pipe is a near identical copy of a NA 740's front pipe, don't you?

For all those interested, I happen to have a 740's front pipe lying around which anyone os welcome to have to try and trial fit to a 300.
