Remote Central locking? via a 400 series

Post by Stuntman »

Hello again one and all, I thought this would be the best place to ask if anyone knew if I could pull out the remote part of the central locking system on a 400 turbo I have that I'm breaking, as I'd like to put it on my 200 or next 300, anyone?
Erm, I've lost my keys again...

I'll have a look at the schematics later, see what I can suss out. The 400's are pretty intangled, all the electrics go to one of several central controllers, but you may be lucky.

I've got a pair of 242 doors. How do you fancy building a 243?

Hahaha, tha ultimate would be the 262c, with the roof chop, that'd be cool, but if push comes to shove I'll use a 244 and dehandle the rears and put them on a remote inside the car, same overall look but not quite authentic, more of a tribute than a rep I suppose, any way the electrics, anyone help?

If you want remote central locking, it's dead easy to do using the 300 existing central locking... You can get a remote kit from ebay for £20, but don't ask me how good they are, I'm not sure I'd trust teh security of them tbh.

I made a custom system for Kar, but I do like the sound of using the 400 system. I'm just worried as all the electrics in them are controlled by several 'modules' which like to control most of the rest of the car as well, and I'm not sure how it'll take being separated. Lets hope this one is on its own!

Hi chris, well the idea is to start breaking the car at the weekend, engine, gearbow, bumpers, front panels interior, electrics, mirrors and info centre, complete, wheels, etc. then search for the sensors on the central locking system, so hopefully it won't be hard to trace, fingers crossed anyway.

Right, I've had a quick look Andi, from what I remember you '60 is on an N plate, so mid 95-mid 96.

The main box of tricks is behind the glovebox, and as yours is a 95, this should also have an alarm/immobilisor in it too. There might also be an unltrasound box in the pass footwell (I think they are lying at this point, and they actually mean remote reciever... but hey, let them run with it). Basically, it will have hte immobiliser, may have the alarm.

The motors themselves are the same as 300 ones electrically, and I'd also guess 200 ones, so it'll drop straight in, all the boxes look nice and separate!!!
