Bee Sting Aerial or NOT?

Post by morgan105 »

Hi All,

I need to replace the aerial mast on my wife's car and just wondered if anyone has used or uses a bee sting aerial, if anyone does or has what is the reception like from them and are they just a case of screwing on to the original mount. I am going to have a look tomorrow at what is available but just wanted an idea if these small bee sting aerials are any good or should they be avoided due to poor reception. It's only a standard volvo system but the wife wants her music so I need something that is decent on reception as there were no probs with the volvo one originally and if it's not right I'll get an ear-bashing again so any help about these bee sting aerials would be great.

I've had one on Kar for the last few years, if anything the reception is better, but my volvo aerial did have a kink in the extendable section. The one I got came with 3 screw threads and 3 length pieces, so I choose the length piece that was nearest to "FM wavelength/2" which also coinsided with the exact wavelength my remote central locking was.

Only problem is I got a silver one, black would have been a lot less noticable, but then mines been on for.... must be 4/5 years now, and is still there.

Yeh i have one, the reception is fine, from memory the thread is M6/ maybe M5 though. But as chris said you get extra little pieces to alter the thread size normally!!
