It's an easy job tbh, the hardest part is getting the wires through the door "snake".

Me and SteveP did it to my 1.7 a while ago, I took pictures to make a guide, but never got round to it. I'll still have the pictures somewhere...

3 or 5 door? 3 doors are harder to source the mechanisms.

Might well do better looking for and aftermarket kit rather than fitting the original mechanisms, as I said they're really pretty hard to find in 3 door form.

I'll have a look! I'm out of internets at home atm though, so may be a while, pester me again if I havn't posted them in a few days.

Fitting the wires is a pain, the loom will be tapped to the snake under the dash, which makes feeding the wires hard. I can't remember how I did it, just that it took longer than fitting the mechs :( I *think* I used a GRP 3mm rod, as I had some lying around ;)

I eventually fixed it.
If you grab the biggest flat-screwdriver around, and poke it from the inside of the door, against the side of the snake, it will come loose.
Then grab it between the door and the car, and pull it out (not as easy as said), then you can un-tape it and put it back in the door. Then you can feed the wire's with a steel rod.

If you know the trick, it's easy. First door took me 2 hours thinking & working, second door took me 10 minutes :D

Ahhhh... remove snake completely :D If only I'd thought of that, my 2nd door took just as long as the first

I found it out by accident ;) I wanted to poke a hole in the snake with the screwdriver, but it flipped out. I decided to pull the entire thing out and that worked well.
