MK1/2 tailgate on mk3?

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to put a mk2 tailgate on a mk3 car. Its a 3dr '87 360...
I know the sidepanels are exactly the same, but is the roof-line also on the same angle, and are the hinges the same?

This is because i bought a mk1/2 rear-window louvre, and i'm desperate to fitting it onto my car I am quite sure i won't get my hands on a mk3 louvre in a short time

I've seen MkIII tailgates on MIIs so my guess is it will fit. It might look a bit strange though ...

Yes it will fit - very popular in the drift scene.

You need to fit the early catch to match the tailgaite.

Hi mate.
You could also use your own tailgate if you take out the rear screan wiper and motor.It would leave a hole,but that can be filled in.
By the way,where did you manage to get the louver? I thought i was the only sad git to have one.

I would like that, because i hate the Dutch government for inventing the new rule that every >1987 car isn't going to get tax-free anymore. For that reason i'd rather buy a mk2.
Only problem is all the work i have put in my car. I have brand new brakes, engine, driveline, interior etc... Then i would have to disassemble my entire car end re-assemble on another car...

I also sand-blasted and painted everything that came off the car like brackets, beams, covers etc...

Maybe it's best to put a mk2 front and rear on the car and just accept the fact i have to keep paying taxes

sounds like youve done an awfull lot of work to have to start all over again.

think yourself at least a bit lucky. uk tax free is manufactured pre 1971!

The engine is a 2.3 liter with some minor upgrades.

Brackets, beams and covers are all sand-blasted and painted, this is the exhaust/fuel tank cover, the transmission subframe and the front-exhaust bracket, in primer. Everything is painted black.


In the future i want to repaint the car in Orange but before that, i want to sort out everything i want on this car, like the mk2 tailgate, maybe a mk2 front etc...

Yup, these are the originals. I bought them new a few months ago.

I still have them. Maybe i will refit them after the repaint. Maybe i will just fit the Hella grille.
