Hmm touch and go, my 360 is having a new sill and rear arch as we speak, then it's in for MOT (which it will fail) but only on some minor stuff... want to see if I can get away with bodging the exhaust for now though :P

National Rally and BKV 2008. Sunday 15th June 2008
This year the club annual National Rally and Best Kept Volvo (BKV) competition will be held on Sunday 15th June 2008 at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. This is just off the A41 near Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire. If you have Internet access you can see their web site at http://www.bucksrailcentre.org/.

A discounted entry fee into the Centre has been arranged for VOC members on the day. The Centre has a lot of interesting things to see, and plenty to keep the children occupied.

The National is a one day function on the Sunday only. There will be no Saturday evening dinner and dance as on previous events. Members wishing to caravan or camp will need to contact the C&C section for details of the closest site.

An updated version of the rules covering entering and the management of the BKV competition will be available soon. I will be making sure that catering arrangements are improved and costs are kept to a minimum. The local Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) will be there to run the reversing and manoeuvering exercises that have always proved popular, and we will have our regular children’s entertainer. I also hope the local Volvo dealer will be able to attend and bring along some display cars.

Fuller details will appear in the club magazine.

hi

thanks for the update Mick

It rained all day in manchester yesterday so nothing got done on the 66 or 343 or anthing for that matter!!!!....Grrrrr.... hoping to work on it tonight if the day brightens up

...did find some interesting stuff in the volvo 66 service manual including an explanation of why 66s and 340s (but in theory applies to any car) of why they sometimes cut out as you come to a stop on the slip road after heavy braking coming off the motorway.....I'll post it later

started up a 740 yesterday with a "kwik Fit" exhaust which has about 3 leaks...first one at the top of the downpipe.... they (kwik fit) are going to sort as the exhaust as its under warranty and only 4 weeks old but is sounded AmAzInG!!! :)

I have full beard in force atm :D

Exhaust died again on Saturday, sheared on the midbox/back box joint, no idea why it's eating them so much, reckon it's something to do with the engine rocking so much, so going for a valve clearance check. Have currently fixed it back together with a beer can

I'm *hoping* I might have a chance to actually polish it, she's now got a title to defend

Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't shave this mess off then and let it go wild so we can hit the BKV as a fully bearded VOC beardies!

Yeah, it would be good to see a grand line up of 300's. I think I'll be taking the vario as representation of the 300 side of things tbh, the GLT needs a few bits and pieces which I'm not going to get done in time.

Mick - stick it in the main field, for goodness sake! We've got numbers to make up ;) My 343 will hopefully be there, and it has more than its fair share of cosmetic rust (but is amazingly clean underneath).

cheers

Ok I give in then Foggy you might know this as there is no class listed for the 66s does this mean we might have a Daf or Volvo 66 next to us as well if one were to be entered

cheers mickt

Class 7 is 300/66, not sure if they only allow Volvo 66's and not Daf's though?

hi guys

our 66 is 98% finished but not completely sorted yet. vaccum line is now in (thanks to Pete Farrell for the tip of getting 8mm centre bore hose from halfords (for the metal vac line to primary unit). Petrol tank hopefully going in this weekend.

dya think it's worth bringing it on a trailer?

Has anyone got an agenda for the day? Utter useless without the VOC forum for information.

Shimon,

I would say the more cars the merrier and if an ongoing project is trailered in I see no problem with that,

the people that annoy me are the ones that trailer perfectly driveable "show cars " just to save them from getting dirty and putting miles on the clock

cars should be driven to shows whenever possible unfinished projects are an exception

it's 50:50 at the moment..... we might be guilty of trailering a finished project next year though

The VOC won't allow a trailered car into the arena, there has been an argument over it before.

The rule was written to (rightly, in my eyes) stop the super polishers, but I think it stopped a track 300 (Kev Strong or Mark Higgins?) from being shown, which was a shame.
