centre console bulbs
The centre console is quite nice when lit up
Although my clock sometimes needs an occasional light tap to get the backlight on
- bizarrely only recently started this. I had wondered if my cars lights on buzzer was broke.. but it doesn't sound like they even had them.. tuh! How many bulbs are there behind the dash panel (speedo/rev counter)? as its slightly dimmer over the fuel guage side than the rest.

its pretty obvious if they're not all working - the light looks 'patchy'
if the display is dim try twizzling the brightness adjuster under the rear fogs switch.

Best is to replace all at once, it won't cost much and no problems for next years.
Often I have seen cars with only one bulb changed, also headlights only one changed at time. I ask myself why? It is not the cost, also easier do it once good than every other week replacing one bulb.
Have others had problems with rear lights?
I had weak contact, lights did come and go in bumps. I repaired that by bending those metal connectors in rearlight bulb holders, also I took some sandpaper and cleared contacts, also from bulbs. No more problems in there either.
Same goes with instrument lights and connectors in there.

Only Saturday did I sort out my rear lights after noticing a bad earth on the N/S brake light! It was simply one of the pins in the holders needed bending out a bit, cleaned them all up too with sand paper and all are now working perfectly

I don't have centre console illumination in GLT. I also found strange wire coming from the direction of the fan switch when I changed the glove compartment. It is a white wire with an Abiko plug and it seems to be connected to the fan switch (wtf?!) or somewhere near because when I pull it the fan switch moves a bit. What do I need to diconnect to get that panel out because there are also some other non-original wiring there and it would be nice to clear that mess out and replace the bulbs behind it.
Also found couple ground wires which goes nowhere etc... Btw where the +12v wire for glove compartment light should come because now I have non-original wire for it because I couldn't find the original wire.
Jtbo yes the rear lights are pain in the a**...
In GL we had this proble that if you connected the wires for rear lights and brake lights the rear light worked fine but when you pressed the brake all lights went out insted of break light lightin up...
All problems are allmost 100% ground problems.

The only problem I've had with the rear lights so far is that the n/s indicator filled up with water and looked like a fish tank, started causing problems when it submerged the bulb! After noticing it, emptied it, only to find it filled up again within two weeks. I drilled two very small holes in the bottom edge to allow what water collected to drain out, appears to be condensation collecting due to a bad top seal I think.
