nomead saves the day :-) A 4 week wait would have been a nightmare.

Springs and strut top bearings are ordered, front damper inserts should be somewhere in the part stash ...

Surprisingly, the spring cup got from Finland to Germany faster than the electronic bank transfer from Germany to Finland. Funny, how the banks make their money, isn't it ;-)

It's not looking so good with the repair. My welder thinks that by welding the spring cup to the strut he will only be doing a temporary job, apparently the strut tube itself is pretty rusty too ... So I'm looking for a complete strut now. Argh!

I just got back from picking up the car. Spring cup welded in on one side, new shocks, springs and bearings.

The parts:
NOR 9005430 lower spring seat
2x Quinton Hazell QSS3062 B19/B200 springs (standard ride height)
2x Monroe dampers MG 960 (Gas Technology)
2x Monroe PK050 dirt-protection bellows
2x SKF VKD 35012 T strut bearings

also 2x Quinton Hazell QSJ789S lower ball joints

The car feels transformed, the steering feels more direct (the new ball joints?) and it feels much more planted. Not surprising after 324,000 kms with the same suspension ... But I don't really trust the repair - new used struts will be needed soon. Also the strut top mounts aren't great ...
