It's the original strut tube dude. Just band sawed/machined out and then had the uprights welded back up - quite the fuck on.

Got pics of the tube with the bottom welded up and it all sitting pretty - somwhere.

Oh I see, once you'd taken the tube out wasn't it a bit shorter?

Yeah, a little. Nothing that can't be overcome with a new plate on the bottom mind.

O/T: Was over the garage again today dude. Got the gearbox hanger dug out for you. the alloy and rubber mounts look fine to me. I thought they were, but always nice to be certain!

Surely this still reduces travel by 2 inchs just like a 2inch drop would? To keep the orginal travel, but still lower it, you'd need to shorten the overall height of the strut or push the strut further into the car?
This does indeed reduce the travel by 2inches as they are shortened for use on 13inch wheels, however they are perfectly good to use with 15inch wheels also. To get original travel but lower the car you'd have to do what i've done and raise the turrets by 2inches.

I spoke to nev today, he informed me that if any of you guys are thinking of getting a set made he can get a group buy together, the more the merrier and the cheaper they'l be. The coilovers are made exchange so you'l have to send him your originals, although he did mention he had a few sets lying around that he could use, and then you'd have to send him your originals once the coilies were on. I have two sets i may be persuaded to part with if enough beer tokens are offered  He uses brand new top mount bearings machined into the top cup, and can shorten the steering arms for more angle if your using them for drifting.

There well worth the money guys, there also damper adjustable over some 30odd clicks so can be turned down for roaduse, and 5 minutes with the bonnet up and your stiff enough for drifting or track use :)

Thanks, Thomas...................

Or you can drop the strut tube further down the hub. 30 clicks? but how wide is that range?

problem is if you lower the strut tube too far you cover the Speedo drive hole so you have no Speedo.. mines set at about 15 and it's pretty stiff...
