Just a little niggle,I do use the search box (top right) before I ask a tech or how to question.But sometimes words are ingored.I just did a search on engine removal and engine was ignored and I got a load of results that were of no use.Although I know how to remove an engine,sometimes you can get valuable snippets of info from the experience of others.

With older versions of PhpBB, AND had to be used between the keywords... Since PhpBB3, + should be used before the keywords. Does it help?

Oh, I think this is problem with words ignored because they are too common words. For example searching other volvo love named topic, try to find it with that search box

Search found 3482 matches: other volvo love

ignored: other volvo

It simply is not possible to find many things because search considers some words too common and ignores them, I think there is some option in settings for that, but it is so long since I have administrated a phpBB board that I really can't remember if there was such or not.

PHPBB's inbuilt search isn't great.

If it doesn't work (I always try it first for ease) do a google site search... something like In googles search box

I tried the + method with no joy.

Does the forum search tool monitor the forum content? If this was a forum about flower arranging would the search tool know to not ignore the word engine?

Is seems strange that a car orientated forum can not be searched for things like "engine type".It sounds like I'm moaning which I'm not and I know what it's like when the same questions get asked every week.

However I do like the idea of using the google method.I think thats how I first found this forum.
