Ambient Temperature Gauge - Wiring

Post by SteveP »

I had a quick look at wiring in my extra gauges the other day on the saloon. Now, on the 1988 black car the wires were tucked and taped up underneath the air box. In the saloon these wires aint there! Has anyone got any clues as to where else they could be? I seem to remember some variations discussed a while back.

the main loom from the dash should have a pair of spade connectors. run your own wire from here to the front of the car.

Yeah, you'll probably have to pinch the wiring from the black car. Pre-wired cars seem pretty rare.

cheers

The plot thickens! Why are there sooooo many variations. All of my GLT's, every single one, ranging from '86 to '89 have the wires sat there with a plug on the end, ready to go on the sensor. They weren't easy to find on my white GLT, despite knowing where to look, so I'd have one more hunt about. But if not, as Hugh says, the spade connectors could be there, but I think you'll find the wires that run from the multiplug on the dash cluster will head off to the bulk head, with no break or connectors in line in a GLT. It appears as though a Volvo mechanic even missed the prewired plug on my saloon! They'd disconnected the wires from the multiplug, added in a new pair of wires into the multiplug then run them to the front of the car. It'd be interesting to see what I find in the variomatic when I come to add the gauges to that!

I've seen a GLT with taped up spades ;) All my three have had taped up under the dash connectors, as have most I've had apart in scrappies
