Loosing weight...

Post by 340cbr »

My car weights 1015kg with the B172k motor (front - 573kg back - 442kg)

Now with the B18Ft engine swap I think that he will be weighting a litle bit more... 1050kg?

What can be taken apart to reduce the weight? But the car most still road legal (need the back seats for example).

How much can the weight be reduced?

maybe try go to the toilet before driving and even leave your wallet in there.....

nahh seriously in my opinion i dont think you can lose much. we have no back seats, parcel shelf, door cards, heater[oh yes it gets cold and steamy],carpets, replaced glass with plastic..... and i dont think it makes any difference except the noise and cold figures. a good dump or dare i say it a diet may be better.......

To stop to drink beer to not eat hamburgers. And to go naked at the wheel))) - 5 kg

Unfortunately from v300 there is nothing to throw out that weight to facilitate. Only if a cowl from fiber glass to make. I shall make in the summer shall show.

not going to lose much without removing the main bits, rear seats etc, replace the front seats for buckets as the stock ones weigh a ton, remove rear wiper and motor (can plug the hole thats left with a plug thats on the inside of the boot), you could remove the carpets and ditch all the other things underneath then put the carpets back?
cheers

Nice bonnet :D

There are a few things that can come off- head light wipers cahnge your spare wheel for a space saver use alloy wheels.
You can also remove the carpet - heater and many other bits like that.

You will have to decide what parts you are will to live without.

Yeah I ripped my heaterbox out but i'm probably going to refit it as the car might be going back on the road, got almost the whole inside painted matt black now, pics at the weekend  think the outside might get the same treatment eventually as i'm amazed how easy it is to get a good finish! For some reason I miss-read what you'd originally put and thought you couldn't remove the carpets aswell, just in the matting and soundproofing ive lost about 15kg and that doesnt include any of the trim panels, carpet or seats but I really doubt your going to feel the difference in normal driving anyway,
cheers

-replace glasses with lexan-plastic and all metalbodypanels with carbon (hood, frontfenders, trunkhood) and àvot you have maybe 50+kg lighter car 8)

Well... I'm seeing that the gains in weight are very small... maybe it's better to forget this idea and add more power instead of loosing weight

Maybe when I can get it "no road legal" I put it at 800kg 340... eheh

Thanks for all!

I find mine goes better once I've removed the drummer, his kit and my bass rig.

Hmm, 2.3 960 Estate. Hmm.

I'd go with that...add power, not take off weight. There's nothing that heavy to lose in a 300. Go check out what most supercars weigh compared to 300s ;)

cheers
