Aerial

A quick one: I know there is a thread on the aerial, but does this thread straight into the roof, or is there a seperate nut that means the sunroof mechanism needs to come off?

Mornin'

Assuming you mean the standard roof antenna :-

antenna mount has a threaded rod that passes through the roof panel, the antenna lead is fitted with a toothed ring terminal (connected to the co-ax screen) incorporating a signal wire terminal that goes over the threaded rod.
The rod is fitted with a shaped washer to insulate it (and the signal wire) from the roof. A nut goes on the rod to clamp the antenna cable to the mount and the mount to the car. (the nut is stepped to fit the antenna cable terminal).

The antenna is fitted forward of the sunroof mechanism but the sunroof winding handle and its surround must be removed to gain access (steel panel sunroof). If you have a o/e glass roof you need to remove above screen trim panel and pull back the headlining a little, but the sunroof won't be in the way.

Hope the above helps,
Mac
