warning light and hi

Post by fatgingerlegend »

hi,

my mate has bought a volvo to drive while he fixes his ever reliable 2.1 zvh rs turbo  and also to use in the scumball rally next year.

we are going to drop in a clio lump, hopefully! i have heard that the engine drops straight in to the 1.7's, is this true?

anyway we also have a problem, whilst driving a dashlight comes on an we have no idea what it is its the (!) one, 6 in from the left on the above dash read out. what the hell is it and is the vulvu going to die

cheers

Have you checked level of brake fluid recently? That usually lits when there is too little amount of brake fluid in system.

Or leaky rear brake cylinders too. Welcome to the forum, getting a clio lump in there is easier than most engine swaps and can be done for the Scumball budget (still a grand?).

well fingers crossed its as easy as my b18c6 swap in to my crx  old one out new one in do a bit of pipe swapping..... wallop 187bhp crx.

were also going to use the car for drift events, maybe some grass track stuff and maybe even some hill climb.

i mainly want to do it so i can get more practice with a rear drive car as i dont fancy killing/harming an ae86 which is the next step to an rx-7/supra dont fancy having any doubt in my mind when toying with a 300hp jap whore that will kill me into a tree.

ill do some searching into brakes and such too, also need to find out how to stiffen the back end, leaf springs are a bit foreign to me i get the lowering blocks but how do you stiffen it? just new dampers?

think we are also getting some steels made up from a mate too, any size any pcd any width, should be good, any recommendations on size or width for a 16v lump?

cheers guys

oh ps, whats the deal with fitting an exhaust manifold for the 16v swap? do you just get the flange turned and re-welded?

I learnt about that light the scary way, drove all the way from salisbury area to southampton with the lid off my brake fluid pot after i had just replaced my brake hoses, was driving all the way thinking what the hell is this light??? it kept flashing every time i hit a bump, when i found out what it was i wasn't half rattled could of been bad, but lesson learnt all ways check before you drive.
