Post by OapEM »

Quick question. Twice tonight I have noticed the inside rear lights were still on after switching the lights and engine off. They stay on until I close the drivers door. Why plz?

Which lights do you mean by inside rear lights? I thing mine only has courtesy lights for the front two passengers, maybe some did have rear ones - but you mention tail lights...

Pure guess based on nothing except it causes weird light problems ;) - have you checked that said offending lights (and perhaps those connected to the switch activated by the drivers door) are all properly grounded, without any corrosion affecting the connection?

Aye it's the tail lights lol

Seem to be grounded/connected fine. I recently cleaned the connections up. Looks like another mystery for the gang.

AFAIK, no 300s had interior light delay (like sierras, cavaliers, most modern cars), so I've no idea what's going on there. If there is an interior light delay, then the rears must be earthing through it somehow. Got a multimeter?

Mk3 GLT's had a courtesy delay on the interior light, but not the tail lights.

MJ is I would expect right, you have an earth fault somewhere in that system. I noticed just now Fake has the disease Kar used to have with earth faults... she's shining the headlamps when I press the brake pedal. Yay, another thing to try and hunt out. Earth faults suck.

Not THAT old chestnut. It's happened on all of my 300s, was the main reason the 360 got laid up, and is positively dangerous when approaching junctions and people think you're flashing them out!

Tell us about it man.
Couldnt see me high beam light yesterday with the new wheel on and some body flashed us.
So I started jiggling my stalk (easy!) coming up to a roundabout to see if i had my hi beams on. flash flash flash, wah! everybody shot at the same time (i said easy there!). Hillarious.

The only 300 I've not had the old rear cluster earthing fault on was a saloon!
