Hi all

and a lot lot cheaper than the mark 1 escort i was looking at. Hopefully guna lower it bout a inch all round and chuck sum cheap alloys on it to try and kill the body roll (been lookin at 195/50/15s any gud?) already chucked a K+N on it and sum air horns lol, jus a quick intro and a few pics

Drop and 15s FTW dude. But go 2in if youre doing it.
Youll be pleasantly surprised with the ride handling difference. Firms up and kills a lot of the rolly rolly bouncey bouney.
You made a good choice in car dude.
For the money youve spent, you really wouldnt have got anything better running RWD.
Oh yeah, welcome to the forum as well man.
Clasicswede can do you short springs and lowering blocks (for sale section)
Car looks a nice example too. Seems youve even had the wing lightened.

will 2 inch no b a bit 2 far, cus im guna use it for autotestin i dinny wanna b scrapein the sump all the time, yurs looks pretty sweet like is that a 2 inch drop?
yeah im well chuffed wit it cost me £450 which i now no is probs a bit over the odds but still a damm sight cheaper than the £3.5K I was guna splash out on t escort and will b jus as fast on the autotests, its takein sum getin used 2 bein rear wheel drive had a few surprise drifts lol and even tho al ma mates took t piss out of it when they 1st saw it me getin called a grandad + al that but now it gets full respect from them after theyve been in it round wet tradein estates lol
the wing was about t only bit of rust on it but the cars probs bout a tonne heavier after all the filler and waxoyl on that arch now lol probs time to rip the back seats out lol

am sure the code is RC-9000 but will check 4 u, got mine from halfords was bout £35 but i work there so got a bit discount, makes a sweet note, its a universal 1 tho and i found that it fouls the choke linkage on top off the carb, so i just left the choke in when i fitted it and use the pedal to keep it goin when i 1st start it but you cud probs jus cut a recess out of the rubber for it 2 fit into

2 inch looks a gud drop like mite jus go slower over the bumps and try and make up 4 it on the bends or jus flat out everwhere as usual lol, is there a big difference between getin shorter springs or jus hackin t ones thats on at t mo?

Yes.
But dont ask me to explain it!
theres a thread on it somewhere.
Try the search window to right and put 'lowering'.
Think the general consensus was
Shorter springs=win.
Cut Springs=looks good, but not as good handling wise.
if i ken right.
Dont quote me though.
Chris_c or classicswede'll keep you right.
If they dont see this thread, maybee try pming one or the other man. Before you get the grinder out!

yeah man, im 32.
1st car was a T reg mk1 cavalier 2litlre, then a mk 3 escort 1.6 ghia, then a gap to a morris oxford, then a 3.0 reliant scimitar, then a 340 which died in a ball of flames.
Just never passed me test.
On to it now though.
And now im actually bothering, im sh!tting mysel about another pull, so trying to be sensible. Points do NOT mean prizes dude.

my scimitar was shagged. twin webbers, full rebuild, three litres of v6 essex goodness, shouldve been a beast so i shipped it blind from huddersfield.
Sent it back on the back of a lorry two days later. Had less pick-up that the oxford. and that was built on a strike day in the 50s.
Broke my heart. i'd got meself worked up for it like a child on xmas day.
Want another one like, one day..................
Cars and fire man, we should start a club.
The Accidental Arsonists.
Zetec sounds like a killer man. But i just cant hack the fwd.
Call me old fashioned!
doing propper sensible driving lessons in a corsa now to bin all the filthy habbits ive built up.
Swear to god as soon as I pass, I'm having a big turd right on the bonnet.

You like the essex v6 engine?! -its a boat anchor and an underpowered one at that! 138bhp from 3.0l iirc..
