fitting a new dashboard!!!!!

Post by kelvingenders »

Hi, just wondering if this hard to do in an 1986 360 GLT. I live in Australia and the one in the car has cracked due to the heat experienced in Queensland. I need to remove the original one and wanted to know people thoughts....will it go back together again? will there be instrument or switch rattle? which is the hardest part?

its easy!

- remove steering wheel
- remove the 2 black panels under each side of the dash
- remove the interior trim that is against the tunnel (just pulls off)
- remove the clockset (undo speedo + 2x connector and if you have it, the hose for the eco gauge) with the 2 screws on the top side of the thing
- disconnect the light switches, for rear window heater/foglight it is the easyest to pull away 1 of the lighting bulbs on them so you know where to put them back
- remove the lightswitch panel, 2 screws on eash side
- remove the radio/radio panel, undo the 2 screws that hold the dash (you can see where the clips are if you look at it from the side)
- undo the 2 large screws (10mm wrench) under the sigaret lighter/ashtray
- undo the 4 large screws, 2 on each outer side of the dash
- remove the glovebox (8 screws and lightbulb) and cut the 2 zipties holding the loom

and then you should be ok to pull the thing out of there :D
