any word on whether a carb change is allowed? I considered doing this amongst other things but know that you'll never make a 340 competitively quick for enduro, the regulations are simply too restrictive and you'll be up against far faster things in your class. It'll certainly be the most fun enduro...

Re: 0-60mph: 23 seconds (1.4 litre)

I've measured the time from 0-60mph in my 340 1.4DL to 23 seconds, which seems awfully slow?!? What is your time? mine... mk2 1.4 DL, 4 speed did 60 in 15.5 seconds last I measured it I believe, can't remember as it was quite a while ago. Most of the time taken is in the 50-60 range, fairly brisk u...

Gearbox/diff swap

OK, haven't been on in a while, but I have a question... I may've asked it before but I don't think I have. My 340 is a 1.4 4 speed Mk2 is the gearbox an M45 or M47? How could I find out? What's the difference? assuming it is an M45, would it then be a straight swap with a 5 speed M47 with diff (pre...

Meh, I can't actually make this event, as it happens to fall on one of the very few nights a year when I have something more important than rallying to do.

go for drilled/grooved discs and some decent breathing alloys and you'll be fine.

The wires that you cut would be a green live, two brown grounds and the red and black are speaker wires. I think they're on the same fuse as the heater blower system and I very much doubt they're the source of your problem. Unless at one point the wires accidentally shorted and melted something some...

ok... I have a similar question... have fixed the earthing fault on my rear brake light, it worked for a while and has now broken and left me stumped. There are 12V across the bulb, continuity from bulb negative to ground and the bulb doesn't look broken and has a reasonable resistance across it, wh...

So... as I don't have to be responsible yet... I need to fit something rediculous to the tubby engine, just to make it unreliable. T3 and Eaton M46, cossie injectors, and magic the K series VVT head on the top for me then, before I have to be good :D  and you never know, in 10 years, you may h...

In ten years time I will be driving the following: Mk III Toyota Supra 2.5 Twin Turbo (Import) as my daily driver Something RWD with big V8+ engine for the weekend Rally car, depending on my current tastes, which may very well be my volvo 340 if it survives. OK, a bit ambitious to think those cars w...

A woman in a brand old volvo 300 definitely deserves a second look and a phone number. The whole status implication of driving a new car actually puts me off buying anything new; I don't want or need a flash car to make up for my lack of personality or manhood. Admittedly, my volvo 340 has been my m...

Yeah, most probably your master cylinder seals. Mine has the same problem: every now and then the pedal travels further under the same force and the master cylinder leaks brake fluid onto the exhaust. You should also find (probably) that after this happens, the pedal doesn't return to the full heigh...
