Yup, I am.

However, you may have forgotten one key thing... I have a flashy light thing

Narrow band flashy lights ftw!

Got bored today, so 7pm I decided to head to a mates house, and fit my Recaros that have been filling up his garage for a bit.

Was a remarkably simple task, no fabbing required! Will take pics when it's light again.

Mk1 Chrischip designed... though it's looking a bit too large to be sexy. Thing is, I have all the parts here to make this one. Current dimensions are ~90mmx60mm and it's a completely standalone daughterboard to the F7R ECU (as well as about 60% of other ECU's from the 90's, but we'll gloss over that)

It's really simple (honest, even though that doesn't look like it). Thing is, it's a lot larger than I wanted it, but I do have those bits bought already. I've an idea of doing it a different way, but that would involve a lot more software and thinking, so I think I'll get a couple of these made up for testing.

Should mean we have home programmable maps on the stock ECU soon though, so as long as people arn't silly all the stock knock protection etc will be kept as well as cold start twiddly bits and all the other "really hard to deal with when you go to a custom ECU so the car runs like crap" bits.

Seriously man, props to you for that hard work! The idea of stock ECU becoming mappable is very very cool indeed. All the best with getting the finished product out man! 340pw

Overnight parts from Japan y0!

Well, ok, Norf rather than Japan, but thats pretty much the same distance away  Genuine 107 Williams ECU, that has been modded at some point in it's life (you can see the ROM has a little window meaning it's a UV eraseable, and has a socket, both of which arn't standard) Thanks for getting it here John
Image

The maps on it are different to what I've seen before, Filthy was told it could well be a Gunnerchip but no proof of such. The map is similar to the first one I was running, but with a snadgers more advance and a lot more fuel at top end. The plus side is it runs 50% less fuel at cruise than the genuine map I'm running atm
Image
Image

Initial notes are that it runs really well on this, the narrow band doesn't continually show "epicly rich duude!" and has progressed to a lovely running light show around the middle showing that it's very close to ideal in most bins. There was a tiny hint of pinking I think, but I can write that out very soon. Happy Chris.

Other than that, I did I bit of Blue Peter engineering over lunch. Took the new ECU, and redid the Chrischip PCB completely so that things sit in sensible places relative to the ECU pcb. Then, printed out a full sized one, and with some sticky back plastic and a washing up liquid bottle, fitted it to the ECU.

That board size appeals a lot more now I've looked at the orig PCB again. The 2 holes in the bottom right are for a USB-B socket and that placement means I'll be able to mill a usb shaped hole in the case. So, access to reprogramming will be there without having to open it up every time :D

Are you saying that it *doesn't* read fully rich on a narrowband at WOT...? If so, run away! Those things are pegged rich at what...14.0:1 at the richest? So you're leaner than 14.0:1 at full load.

Tell me this aint so! And get a proper lambda sensor, FFS. I'll even lend you mine if promise to buy me a new probe (£30?) when you're done.

cheers
