how to seperate diff and gearbox?
is there a special technique to sperating the box from the diff? ive got a spare (broken) gearbox, so i thought i'd take it apart and see if i could get the diff off it. i took all the nuts and bolts out of where the two join, bashed it round a bit, and they seperated by about 20mm or so, then i couldnt get it any more apart! are there hidden clips/bolts or something i dont know about?
Re: how to seperate diff and gearbox?
have you got every single nut and bolt off?
theres 2 studs that run the length of the box as well. just keep tapping away crowbar/prybar works wonders to help push apart, dont forget the layshaft of the box runs in tot he diff as well etc.

Pry bar crow bar not a good idea, as box and diff have machined surfaces.....

Re: how to seperate diff and gearbox?
carefully pull the diff off the transmission in a straight line.
the output axle of the transmission to the differentiel is encased in the input shaft of the differential, similar spline connection as the propshaft.. i hope you can understand this but there's no way i can correctly translate what i'm trying to say from dutch to englisch on this one
