Recomended consumable parts list

Post by mrsoundcraft »

Id like to know what everyone thinks of the quality of replacement parts and consumables for the cars offered from manufacturers.

Things like Tyres, Oil and brake discs, pads, shoes and drums.

Anyone with me?

Continental for tyres and Castrol for oils, but not cheapest option, mid range or above, those seem to work rather well.

I can't remember which racing pads I had at front, but those did worn quite quickly out, under 10 000km and not too much of city driving.

I don't buy electric parts that are made in Italy, they are not meant to Finnish weather, those are just not working.

Often one can get cheap or good part, I try to pay bit more and get a good one, but sometimes price does not tell and one need to open box and try to figure out if that is good quality or not, it is difficult sometimes.

Hmm, or do you mean parts from car maker? It is perhaps more stable but still bit of lottery, imo. Someday you get good brand part, someday cheap italian electric part which just fails when there is even smallest puddle of water in sight

Well I wouldn't trust Italian Electrics either! But I do like Toyota electrics.

Thanks for the advice on tyres and oil. Im just about to try some EBC ulltimax pads, should be interesting.
