I have had a lot of e-mail's over this car all telling me these cars with 25k on them are plentyfull from £200 to £1000,well go on buy one,I still think this is a one-off with the history to prove it. More 'e-mails 'boy I did not know that there was so many 20/25000 mile Volvo's around, O'K it was not a barn find it was in a garage, and yes I did put a new battery, not one from the local scrap yard, Look give me a proper offer for it,I am not a shark, or I will use it myself,I will not have any depreciation to worry about.Tony. I sent him a message telling him about my 18600 mile 340 which I bought in December for £750 complete with road tax and no rust on the bonnet. I also mentioned he forgot to include 'time warp condition' in the description - it usually goes hand in hand with 'barn find'...

He didn't seem impressed - funny that..

To be fair he has invited realistic offers - I reckon about £650 as it does have an extremely rare cassette holder. And floor trays. And 'oil injected box frames'. And he has been established since 1961....

It looks pretty much identical, condition-wise, to mine apart from one detail.
Can the spoiler on the boot be worth an extra £1600? Apparently not, or it wouldn't still be sat there awaiting a new owner.

On the other hand; if enough people sell these things at that price, then their values will rise and fewer cars will be scrapped, which has to be a good thing so, Mr eBay seller, thanks.

He sent me an email yesterday to say he's accepted an offer of £1000 so I'd expect it to disappear off Ebay shortly.

Personally I'd be quite happy to see prices rise as it may help prevent the nicer cars being wrecked by poorly executed modifications.

I know. Its horrible when people do what they want to do with their own car.
Sometimres they even ask for advice when something goes wrong.
I dispair, I really do.
Makes me feel physically sick.

I did emphasise "poorly" executed modifications which as we are all aware will ultimately ring the death knell for the relatively few nice unmodified cars which are left.

Those of us who care about the survival rate of those cars which are in superb and largely original condition (such as mine) tend not to adopt the view that 'it's mine so I can do what I like with it' but rather view ourselves merely as custodians until it passes to the next careful keeper.

Your sarcasm does you no credit because you know exactly where i'm coming from. Yes, by all means modify but don't continually criticise those of us who are genuinely interested in the survival rate of the relatively few original cars left.

if you reckon I'm wrong lets do a straw poll to determine the ratio of unmodified to modified on this forum alone and I think it will show that original 300s are under threat. Personally I'd be worried about selling mine for fear of it's probable fate..

So there...

Awesome. Modified vs unmodified again.
Always fresh that one.

PS - fail . No modder has ever critisised anyone who enjoys a standard car. Let alone consistently.
Thats the gospel double truth, ruth.

Anyone who keeps a car standard is just suppressing our human rights. They're also massive racists. For not liking mods. They probably read the Daily Mail too. Oh, I went there. Do I win something for being the first one?

I don't dislike mods, just badly executed ones and those carried-out on the few remaining nice original cars.

I read the Daily Express by the way, but not every day, mainly just on Saturday to get the TV book and occasional free carton of orange juice from Lidl if I can remember to cut-out the voucher..

No Way!!!!
Some Daily Mail readers can quite opinionated.

Some can even be found in vocal opposition to anyone different to them, or ideas different to thier own.

Im glad youre one of the open minded types.

Is it time to talk about cars again yet?

I like Volvo 300s.

I imagine this thread was just posted at the initial shock of asking such a price for a bog standard 340, in fairly clean condition.

Who really cares... it wont sell for that price and that's the end of it. I see little value in messaging him to tell him so, because by all accounts he already knows
