I enjoy driving it more than cleaning it! Plus everytime I do wash it I seem to end up doing an off road test within a day or 2

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Hmmm, no doubt you were thrashing it when that pic was taken and he engine isn't even fully warm yet - that'll get you a slap from Andy!
Of course the temp gauge could be knacked like the outside temp one is - it hasn't dropped below about 11*c for about 3 weeks now, not even in the wee small hours.

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Temp gauge runs at a quarter on the F7's, I have a feeling it's a gauge/sender mismatch as from memory we are using the renault sender but need to talk it through with Adam.
Temp sender was however playing up
It's part of what I thought was a leaking windscreen causing electrical issues but since the shells been stripped proved it's actually the fusebox leaking thats caused electrical and rust issues.
The old fusebox is scary

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Finally sorted out my idle
Perfectly stable now, 1100 at cold and brought down to 900/950 when warm. It turned out the ICV needs to have a resistance to pull through (normally the air filter) and my MAP sensor was knackered, along with the TB bypass screw being out by a country mile.
I went to the scrappy, thought that the pressure range of the MAP sensors would be different so pulled every Renault one with a different part number. That was all of them in the yard. Got home, looked it up on the dealer software (probably should have done that first) and found they are the same on pretty much every Renault, Volvo (440 and 850) and GM thing.
Other than that, tuned 225,000 miles last weekend

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Awesome, when I'm back from travelling I might have to bug you as to how to fix the idle

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Well... tonight was interesting. Decided to not do the first 12car of the season, so rang Rich (my Nav) up. Just to make sure he couldn't do it too.
Then rang the organiser to check if she needed marshall's, which she did as she was having a bit of an epic at work. So, grabbed a handy spare Wessex Nav and did organising of marshals, start and codeboarding whilst marshalling,
This proceeded at a fair pace and in the middle of it all I had an intermediate funny burning smell. Smell was noted, then it went away so all was figured well, but it was replaced with a lil battery light on the dashboard.
Bugger. So, continue onwards and after codingboarding between my first marshal point and second checked under the bonnet whilst parked up for waiting for competitors at the second. Noted the earth lead not connected to the alternator. Actually, did a double take and noted the earth stud no longer in the alternator but on the dangling loom. With melted solder on the coolant hose underneath. I win at making awesome failures of parts happen
Originally suspected overhotness on the codeboarding run, but the engine never went above half a gauge and a few other random things have been happening lately (interior light blew, then blew again 3 days later, as well tonight after all this the rev counter zeroing when I put the windows up).
Arse. Looks like loom removal over the weekend, I make that at least 2 earth faults. And a new alternator.
Still, rescue'd the organisers Spitfire on the way home, nav managed to knock the loom about
Current distance... 46miles and 5 engine starts without alternator. Place you bets if she'll get to work today... and if I'll ever get home again

Ok, so 3ish weeks after spinning a prop she's just gone and done a proper job.
Not sure whats gone but the bellhousing is in more than a standard OEM number of pieces and cock knows what else has happened.
Silly tart.
