Wheel bearing cover front wheel

Post by Muddy Ground »

I had the brakes done on my 360GLT the other day, but didn't spot that the muppets had left the bearing cover off. Result one collapsed bearing. Naturally nobody has this part in any more. Without it the car is a write off - so can anybody out there in 300 land help me save my car? Dire need as I need it ASAP as the car is sitting on a garage ramp.

Cheers,

Phil

...anybody got one spare? Not after one free - more than willing to pay! Stuck without it as the bearing grease just washes out otherwise. I'm counting on you Volvo 300 people to help!

Mark, he's on about the grease cap that goes over the bearing nut, that you fill with grease. RH or LH mate? LH side has a hole for the speedo cable.

R/H side - domed grease cap. Agree, anything of the correct diameter would fit but these things aint exactly lying on the ground around these parts waiting to be picked up. I fashioned one out of a toothpaste cap, and it's going to be stuck on as a temporary fix. Beetle ones look to be the same, but so far I've only found the speedo drive one.

Essentially what's happened is I've had the brakes fixed at a modern garage and they tend not to think laterally. If the part isn't on the shelf, then it doesn't exist. Hopefully I get the car back today, but I'm still in need of one of these bloomin' caps if anybody out there has one. Unfortunately I don't know what Volvo called them.

Hi Mark,

go on then, if it's for sale I'll take it!

Looks like aftermarket brake rotors may have caused the failure. Still waiting on the diagnosis here ;¬(
